“Kitchen garden did miracle, malnourished twins become normal”
Name of malnourished child – Arcana, Mother name is Sunita and father name is Chandra Bhan. They are residing of Village Mahadevpur Kala, Block- Chakiya, Chandauli.
After 11 years Sunita got pregnant She has already two girls of 13 years and 11 years. Because of complication she had complications in pregnancy. After treatment of many years at District hospital she became pregnant in the year 2020 during lock down. During the pregnancy her other complications were continued but proper suggestion of ROSA staff and counselor her treatment was going on. During the checkup it was found that she had twin baby. In the mean ttime her bleeding problem had started and it was continued up to 5 months. Sunita had major problem of weakness and laziness. Doctor had suggested her to take rich diet including green vegetables. Her economic condition and lock down had made her handicapped to follow the diet chart.
Due to lock down doctors were not available and condition of Sunita was deteriorating day by day. The condition of Sunita was known to ROSA staff so her treatment was managed anyhow. Her husband is daily wages labor and during the lock down he was jobless. In this condition it was difficult to manage green vegetables and other required diet. Family has some piece of land adjoining to the house. ROSA staff suggested her to develop kitchen garden and grow vegetables her own. She agreed, then ROSA staff provided her seeds of Tomato, Spinach, coriander. Gourd, carrot and other leafy vegetables. Very few days they have started to take vegetables from the garden. After few months the family had sufficient vegetables per day. By using the leafy vegetables on daily basis, Sunita’s hemoglobin percentage was increased.
01/7/2022 Sunita gave birth of two children, one boy and one girl at govt. hospital. At the time of birth weight of girl was 2.1 Kg however boy is 2.5 Kg. The girl was malnourished. On suggestion of ROSA staff the treatment child was taken at SNCU Govt, Hospital, Chnadauli.
In Very few days weight of the child had increased up to 2.7 Kg. It had become possible because proper feeding mother milk and timely treatment. Because of taking green vegetable on regular basis mother had sufficient milk to feed both children.
After 6 months it was observed that weight of girl has increased up to 6.7 Kg. The both children are enjoying good health, height and weight both are increasing rapidly.
These all have become possible because of proper suggestion and guidance for proper kitchen garden and timely medical support.
